Creative Workshops and Talks that Inspire

I create tailored workshops and talks that inspire creativity, visual storytelling, and fresh ways of seeing. Drawing on my own career journey, I share practical insights with warmth and real industry experience, whether through hands-on workshops, keynotes, Q&As, or conversations about photography and creativity.

Workshops

Seeing Differently: Creative Workshops with Sally Brownbill

What I love most is working with people and helping them see their creativity in a fresh and exciting way.

Over the years, I have developed and facilitated workshops for communities, organisations, universities, schools, and creative businesses. Every workshop is tailored to the participants, their experience levels, and the tools they have available, whether that’s an iPhone, a digital camera, or simply a willingness to see the world differently.

My workshops are built around creativity, visual storytelling, and finding inspiration in unexpected places. Drawing on my own unique career journey, from working as a photographer and educator to writing two books and creating the photography podcast When Harri Met Sally, I share real-world experiences, practical insights, and the lessons I’ve learned along the way.

As the founder of The Brownbill Effect, I love supporting people through mentoring, portfolio development, career guidance, and industry insight. Years of working alongside photographers, designers, students, educators, and creative professionals have given me a keen eye for helping people shape and present their ideas in meaningful and engaging ways.

My workshops are highly interactive and designed to inspire new ways of thinking. Together, we’ll explore what makes an image, idea, or story resonate. I’ll share examples of work that has inspired me across a variety of disciplines, including portraiture, still life, food, architecture, exhibitions and visual communication, to name a few and we’ll discuss the creative decisions behind successful work.

One of my favourite parts of every workshop is the group discussion and critique. In a supportive and constructive environment, I encourage participants to share their work, build confidence, strengthen their creative thinking, and develop a deeper understanding of visual storytelling and image selection. These conversations often become the most valuable part of the experience, helping people see their work and creative potential in a new light.

My goal is always to create a welcoming space where people feel inspired, challenged, and excited about what they can achieve creatively.

I love collaborating with organisations from all industries to create tailored workshops focused on creativity, visual thinking, storytelling, and inspiration. My workshops can cover a wide range of topics, including photography, visual storytelling, networking, portfolio and website reviews, confidence building, and finding creative inspiration.
Whether you’re looking to strengthen your personal brand, tell more compelling stories through your work, build confidence in presenting your ideas, or develop a stronger creative practice, I create engaging and practical sessions that encourage fresh thinking, meaningful connections, and creative growth.

Talks

Public Speaking

Over the past 25 or so years I have had the privilege of lecturing at universities, speaking to creative communities, sitting on industry panels, being on course advisory boards, judging photography exhibitions, and running workshops for audiences of all sizes. I have also presented at libraries, bookstores, community centres and industry events, connecting with people from all walks of life through creativity, storytelling and conversation.

I specialise in tailoring my talks to suit the audience, whether that is an intimate Q&A, an inspiring keynote, or how I went about writing my two books on photography and creativity, all supported by visual presentations and real industry experience.

Every talk is delivered with warmth and humour and a deep understanding of the creative industry. My aim is always to create an engaging experience that leaves audiences feeling inspired and connected.

If you are looking for a speaker, host or workshop facilitator for your organisation, community, event or creative team, I would love to hear from you, and we can chat through what would best suit your participants needs.
