About Stranger Gallery and Studio

In November 2021, Peter opened Stranger Gallery and Studio as a venue to discover, view and exhibit photographic art. The gallery also hosts regular talks about photography, by photographers.

After a chequered career that would make a struggling actor blush, Peter has worked full time as a photographer since 2015. Until recently Peter’s commercial work dealt with architecture and real estate, and he continues to shoot fashion and portraits in his St Kilda studio.

From an early age, Peter has been fascinated and inspired by the beauty and banality of the buildings and structures that make up our urban environment. His recent most recent personal project ‘Utopia’ deals with modern urban spaces depicting ambiguous intent, straddling realism and surrealism, signifying utopian lightness and dystopian darkness.

Images portray the familiar as unfamiliar and depict spaces that are ostensibly appealing but on closer observation, may appear to be somewhat disquieting.
